My Moist Nerd Vagina: Episode VII - The Return to Blogging
By day, I have several jobs. I am a college instructor, and coordinator of a human services and counseling program. I also do a little therapy on the side as I am a licensed counselor. December actually begins my busiest time of year. It means that my by night persona, a lazy Redditor, is all but abolished. I have December graduation I am dealing with, and as I sit trying to pin down words that I will speak at the graduation ceremony, I decided I needed a mental break. I had conveniently listed all of the nerd stories from Reddit that I have missed over the past few days, and thought that I might as well share with you, the one random reader that may one day come across this blog. In fact, it may do my little nerdy heart some good to share some of these things from time to time, so I am going to try to make this a weekly endeavor.
It is also a great time to start. I muttered a crude sentence to my wife the other day that pretty much sums up what it is like to be a nerd right now. I leaned over, and softly said to her, "My nerd pussy is soaked". There is way too many things going on to no be constantly excited at the moment. Below, I share some thoughts and links from this week;
- A 4chan user under the name of Spoiler Man that claims to work at Lucas Films has released potential spoilers to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Reddit has all of the summaries of his spoils in this post. I don't think any of this is real, but it is an interesting read. I actually hope most of what he says is correct, and most of them are pretty safe bets I would imagine.
- Terminator: Genysis had a trailer debut this week, following the trailers for Jurrasic World and Star Wars the past two weeks. I have seen a lot of Internet commenters angry at the trailer. Sure, Schwarzenegger jumping into a flying helicopter after saying "I'll be back!" looks like an expensive Robot Chicken skit, but the T-1000 is back.
- Stephen Colbert defended the new lightsaber from the Star Wars trailer. Perhaps even better than his defense was the fact that he quoted the Twitter account of Bill Corbett, the voice of Crow from Mystery Science Theater 3000.
- Benedict Cumberbatch is our new Doctor Strange is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Possibly the best part of this announcement was the glee of a random Redditor that responded to the news by saying "you could drown a toddler in a my panties".
- The cast for the Suicide Squad movie has been announced. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie as The Joker and Harley Quinn is wonderful news, as is Tom Hardy returning to DC without the Bane mask. Will Smith as Deadshot is a bit troubling though. You could not find a more hit or miss actor this side of Nicolas Cage. Also, is Amanda Waller not in this?
- J. K. Rowling is releasing 12 new short stories within the Harry Potter universe this month on Pottermore. I won't read them, but I cannot wait to get a brief synopsis from my wife.
- Marvel's Star Wars #1 is expected to be the first comic to sell over a million copies in over 20 years, and the first to do so using just online sales. I almost feel pressured to buy this. It's already in my cart.
- Frank Miller and Scott Snyder are rumored to be making a third part to Miller's The Dark Knight comic series. Snyder is one of the few comic guys that I am keeping up on. Usually my comic reading is only done once something begins terribly famous and graphic novels are issued, but Snyder is worthy of keeping an eye on. Supposedly, this would follow around an older Carrie Kelly protecting Gotham. I would read this.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy. It was the only exciting thing about reading the nominee list, although I did find out that apparently Beck is still making music.
- I saw this wonderful commercial this week from 1980, starring Christian Slater and Peter Billingsley.
- NPR released their list of the best books of 2014. The only notable one that excited me was The Usagi Yojimbo Saga Volume I
- One of the best things about Dragon Con is the year leading up to it, random pieces of excitement come our way through the constant announcements. The first one for the 2015 con was given to us this past week announcing that Felicia Day will be there. A pleasant surprise to make the time between cons feel even longer.
- This montage clip of The 25 Best Films of 2014 is amazing. It was also the first time I've ever heard of Why Don't You Play in Hell, which looks amazing. I can't wait to put my list of top films together, but I've missed so many, I shouldn't even be able to call myself a nerd. My current top 3 for 2014 are Interstellar, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
One of the films in this countdown came out this weekend, The Babadook. In true fashion of our local theater, since it appeared somewhat entertaining, we did not get it.
-
Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer released their 2015 calendar this week. I'm hoping near-nudity will be a weekly feature here.
- Roberto Orci has left the director's position of Star Trek 3. This has caused a most-likely failed Twitter campaign - #bringinriker in hopes that Captain Beardface will helm this thing.
- What is the deal with the British porn ban? I am oddly patriotic at the moment, loading a face-sitting video on XNXX in the other tab.
- Kari Byron is returning to The Discovery Channel in a tech show with Steve Wozniak. I would prefer her to be back on MythBusters, but we'll take what we can get.
- I'll close with a Christmas tradition of my group of friends; watching the shit out of this video. See you next week kiddos.
